Exciting Updates and New Initiatives of CITHM-LCUP
CITHM-LCUP continues to make strides in academic excellence, industry partnerships, and innovative learning experiences. Here are the latest highlights and projects shaping the future of our department:
1. Strengthening Industry Collaborations
CITHM has recently expanded its network of industry partners, providing students with unparalleled training and internship opportunities. We have successfully established training agreements with Janu Tokyo Hotel by Mori Hospitality Corporation [Tokyo, Japan] for SIAP Program; Ediphi [Texas, US] for VR Training Lab, Internship in US, France and Spain.
2. Integration of Virtual Reality (VR) in Tourism Education
LCUP is set to become the first institution in Region 3 to incorporate Oculus VR technology into tourism education. This groundbreaking initiative will revolutionize the way students explore global destinations, experience virtual hotel and restaurant simulations, and enhance their practical learning in a digital environment.
3. Advancing Research and Innovation
Requiring research presentation and publication as a graduation requirement prepares students for professional and academic success. It cultivates a research-oriented mindset, strengthens the institution’s reputation, and aligns with global educational standards. For SY 2024-2025, the department produced 11 student group researches presented in the international conference and expected to be published anytime soon.
4. Facilities and Learning Environment
CITHM boasts state-of-the-art laboratories and simulation centers, including:
-
Villa Sta. Monica Suites
Student-Supervised Operational Simulation Suites supervised by students serve as real-world training environments where learners take on leadership roles while managing simulated hotel, restaurant, and event operations. This experiential learning approach enhances critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills, preparing students for industry roles. -
