Being a certified Huawei Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Academy, the La Consolacion University Philippines met Huawei Philippines, who conducted a campus visit to discuss the planning, preparations, and implementation of the free online courses. It was conducted for its students and faculty members on July 5, 2022, at LCUP Catmon Campus.

Huawei Technologies Corporation Ltd. is a known leading China-based ICT infrastructure provider of smart devices worldwide. Furthermore, Huawei created the Huawei ICT Academy – a non-profit partnership program with various educational institutions that will materialize its goal of building a bridge between ICT and education. On February 28, 2022, LCUP became one of the institutions in the country that forged a partnership with Huawei and became a certified Huawei Academy.

The certification was made possible through the initiative of the College of Information Technology and Engineering headed by Dr. Joseph D. Espino. Dean Espino welcomed Mr. Lim Seow Boon, the Huawei ICT Talent Development Manager, and gave him a campus tour. Throughout the tour, Mr. Lim visited Sr. Editha S. Zerna, OSA, Ph.D., University President, and Dr. Divina Ann M. Eusebio, Vice President for Academic Affairs.

After the tour, Dr. Espino and Mr. Lim went to the CITE Consultation Room to commence the meeting. The goal of the university to produce excellent and globally-competitive graduates alongside Huawei's goal to deliver standard training and certification courses designed to prepare the students for employment fueled this partnership.

The meeting also allowed the department to consult industry experts as part of the curriculum development for the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) and Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCoE).
