November 21, 2023

The Office of the Vice President for Research, Publications, and Linkages (OVPRPL) hosted its second Institutional Research Colloquium for the year 2023, now going back on track with the first colloquium held on-site on November 21, 2023, at the St. Augustine Audio Visual Room, LCUP Main Campus.

Nine presenters from the College of Medicine (COM) and the College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM) delivered papers in the Student Category, which commenced the morning session. For the afternoon session, five presentations were witnessed from the institution's different departments: the Office of the University Registrar, the COM, the OVPRPL, and the Basic Education Department under the Professional Category. This brought to a total number of 14 research presentations for this leg of the Research Colloquium.

A Panel of Experts in the field of research was invited to provide comments and recommendations on the research presentations. The Panel of Experts consisted of Dr. Rosalyn Galvez, Director for Student Affairs and Services and the Chairperson of the Panel, Dr. Maria Lourdes Cervantes, University Registrar, and Prof. Jennylou Dela Rosa, an Office Staff at the Office of the Vice President for Graduate Studies.

The presentations were shortly followed by the Awarding Ceremony for Best Paper and Best Presenter for each category. Dominating the stage, the College of Medicine bagged the Best Paper and Best Presenter awards from both categories. The study entitled "Job Burnout and its Effect on the Work Engagement of COVID-19 General Physicians in Secondary Hospitals in Malolos, Bulacan" by Ms. Ruth Ann Marcelo, Ms. Isabelle Rosetti Tuazon, Ms. Ma. Aireen Valeros, and Mr. Andrew Zerrudo was hailed as the Best Paper for the Student Category. At the same time, Ms. Andrea Magpayo was recognized as the Best Presenter of the research entitled “An Attempt to Understand the Coping Mechanisms of Medical Students Who Tested Positive for COVID-19 in the Context of Online Classes.”

For the Professional Category, Dr. Maria Cristina Zulueta won the Best Paper Award for her research entitled "Grounding a Quality Assurance Framework from the Perspectives and Experiences of Deans from PAASCU Level III and IV Accredited Medical Schools." The same paper also brought her the Best Presenter award.
