LCUP hosts the first Augustinian Youth Vocation Jamboree

November 18-19, 2023

"In you, there is hope, for you belong to the future as the future belongs to you" – Pope John Paul II.

Bringing together the Augustinian Youth as one, LCUP led the first two-day Augustinian Youth Vocation Jamboree (AYO Voc Jam) on its campus grounds, showcasing an array of spiritual formation activities in line with the teachings and ideals of St. Augustine on November 18 to 19, 2023 at the LCUP Main Campus.

The momentous event gathered the youth and delegates from the Association of Schools of the Augustinian Sisters (ASAS) schools, religious sisters of the Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation (ASOLC), Augustinian Friars, and Seminarians to strengthen the Augustinian spirit of friendship across the different communities of students, lay, and religious. This also became an avenue to promote vocation and awaken everyone's role and mission as Augustinian Evangelizers.

The first day of the event began with an early morning walk/procession with the image of Sto. Niño, Our Lady of Consolation, St. Augustine, and St. Monica from Barasoain to Catmon Campus. Upon arrival to the main campus, the delegates were warmly welcomed through the Opening Remarks of University President Sr. Niceta M. Vargas, OSA, Ph.D., represented by Sr. Regina Cesar, OSA, Assistant to the Vice President for Religious Formation and Extension. Highlights of the morning activity included AYO Orientation Talk with Fr. Basil Sugata-on, OSA, on Augustinian Spirituality, Vocation 101 Talk, a series of Life Sharing from the point of view of the Married Life, Single Blessedness, and Holy Order and Consecrated Life. The evening session featured Vespers/Taize, an hour of prayer promoting meditation and reflection on God's love and presence in one's life. A Cultural Show lightened the mood as delegates from different schools showcased their talent through various performances.

On the second day, a morning prayer gathered all the delegates at the Chapel of Our Lady of Consolation, followed by a solemn closing mass presided by Fr. Ric Anthony Reyes, OSA, from the Augustinian Province of Sto. Niño Cebu. Wrapping up the activity, Sr. Niceta M. Vargas, OSA, Ph.D., through Sr. Regina Cesar, OSA, expressed her heartfelt gratitude and thanksgiving to the organizing committee and all the delegates who made this year's AYO Voc Jam possible and successful..
