July 25, 2022

In pursuit of enhancing the research competency of the Graduate Studies Department's students and faculty, the Office of the Vice President for Research, Publications, and Linkages (OVPRPL) teamed up with the Office of the Vice President for Graduate Studies (OVPGS) in spearheading the 2nd Research Competency Enhancement Webinar, June 25, 2022, via Google Meet.

The 2nd RPL-GS Research Competency Enhancement Webinar materialized to bridge the gaps obtained from the Research Competency Needs Analysis Survey. 961 GS students and faculty spared time and participated during the said webinar.

The webinar commenced with an opening prayer led by Prof. Ruth Malabiga, Director for LCUP Human Resource and Development Office and GS faculty, followed by the singing of the national anthem. Attendees were warmly welcomed by Dr. Mark Rey Santos, Officer-in-Charge for the VP-RPL. Furthermore, students and faculty members were given a brief orientation on the University's Vision-Mission-Goals and Objectives by Mr. Jose Paulo Espinosa, Director of the Integral Evangelization Program. Afterward, Prof. Ruth Malabiga presented the University Administrators.

Graced by resource speakers upholding expertise in their fields, participants gained knowledge from various topics discussed during the webinar. Dr. Erlinda Navarro discussed "Formulating the Major and Specific Problems of the Study + Stating the Hypothesis/es of the Study," Dr. Rico Paolo Tolentino discussed "Discussing the Methods and Techniques Used in the Study," Dr. Nicanor San Gabriel discussed "Declaring and Describing the Instruments Used in the Study + Reliability and Validity Details," Dr. Dennis Caballes discussed "Data Processing and Statistical Treatment for Quantitative Research," and Dr. Racidon Bernarte discussed "Qualitative Data Analysis." All of the speakers are professors from the GS Department. After every discussion, an open forum was held where the speakers entertained questions and clarifications from GS students and faculty.

When the resource speakers' discussion was over, the program heads presented the research agenda of their program. The webinar was concluded by the Closing Address of Dr. Enrico Rosales, VP-GS, and the closing prayer led by Mr. Christian Catindig, Administrative Assistant. The activity was hosted by Dr. Janet Valdez, Assistant to the VP-GS.
